Commencing January 1, 2026, three mandatory national standards aimed at enhancing automotive energy efficiency will come into force. These encompass the 'Fuel Consumption Limits for Passenger Cars,' 'Evaluation Methods and Metrics for Passenger Car Fuel Consumption,' and 'Fuel Consumption Limits and Evaluation Metrics for Light Commercial Vehicles.' For passenger cars, the new standards impose stricter overall requirements, tightening fuel consumption limits by roughly 18% to 48%. They set a corporate average fuel consumption goal of 3.3 liters per 100 kilometers. Regarding light commercial vehicles, the standards mandate a 10% reduction in overall fuel consumption limits, with a corporate average fuel consumption target of 5.7 liters per 100 kilometers by 2030.
