The American ride-hailing giants, Uber and Lyft, have entered into a strategic partnership with Baidu, with the ambitious plan to roll out a pilot program for autonomous taxis in the United Kingdom next year. Specifically, Uber is set to deploy Baidu's Luobo Kuaipao (Apollo Go) RT6 model in London. The pilot is anticipated to kick off in the first half of next year, with the aim of providing commercial services by the end of the same year. The CEO of Lyft has announced that the company will also adopt the Apollo Go RT6 model, with intentions to launch a fleet of dozens of autonomous taxis for testing purposes in the UK next year, subject to obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals.
