On December 22, 2025, Baidu's autonomous driving ride-hailing platform, Luobo Kuaipao, revealed that it is teaming up with Uber, a globally renowned ride-hailing giant, to initiate autonomous driving tests and launch ride-hailing services in London, UK, in 2026. This move is set to assist London in constructing a digital and eco-friendly transportation network.

Previously, Luobo Kuaipao obtained the inaugural pilot license for autonomous vehicles in Hong Kong, China. Through its operations there, it has gathered invaluable data and gained safe operational experience on Hong Kong's intricate right-hand-drive roads. This has provided a solid technical groundwork for its implementation in London.

This partnership signifies the first foray of Chinese autonomous driving technology into London, UK, and the right-hand-drive market. It also represents the first systematic integration of Chinese technical standards and operational systems with the globally prevalent right-hand-drive traffic environment. This showcases the versatility and advanced capabilities of Chinese autonomous driving technology in managing a variety of global traffic conditions.

Initially, the fleet will consist of tens of vehicles, with plans to gradually expand to hundreds of vehicles in the future. In the meantime, Waymo is also gearing up to launch full-fledged commercial services in London, with the same target year of 2026.
