Volkswagen Group's CEO, Oliver Blume, announced that the company is set to invest 160 billion euros (around $186 billion) by 2030, a decision that underscores its cost-control strategy. The overall investment amount will undergo annual revisions as part of a five-year rolling investment framework. In the past, the investment allocations across different periods were inconsistent, with 2024 standing out as the year of peak investment. However, Volkswagen subsequently witnessed a dip in profits, attributed to the repercussions of U.S. tariffs and fierce competition in the Chinese market, with the Porsche brand facing significant challenges. The upcoming five-year investment blueprint will prioritize "Germany and Europe," spanning various sectors. Additionally, Blume noted that when Audi contemplates setting up a factory in the United States, a key factor will be whether it can obtain substantial financial backing from Washington.
