In a recent interview, Ford CEO Jim Farley remarked that Ford has already missed out on opportunities in the Japanese and South Korean markets and simply cannot afford to make the same mistake in China. He emphasized to his team that if the CEO shows respect for Chinese competitors, then the entire company must follow suit. Unlike some of his counterparts in the automotive industry, Farley is acutely aware of the looming threat that Chinese automakers pose to Ford's business. Even though Chinese electric vehicles have not yet made their way into the U.S. market for sales, Farley believes their potential entry could create a substantial competitive divide.
