On October 31, Ideal Auto issued an official response to the self-ignition incident involving an Ideal MEGA that occurred on a Shanghai street on October 23. The company announced a voluntary recall of 11,411 Ideal MEGA 2024 model vehicles manufactured between February 18, 2024, and December 27, 2024. According to Ideal Auto, following an investigation, it was discovered that the coolant in this batch of vehicles had inadequate corrosion resistance. Under specific circumstances, this could result in the corrosion and leakage of the cooling aluminum plates for the power battery as well as the front motor controller within the cooling circuit. In extreme cases, this could trigger thermal runaway of the power battery, presenting a safety risk. Ideal Auto has submitted the recall plan to the State Administration for Market Regulation. For vehicles within the recall scope, the company will replace the coolant, power battery, and front motor controller free of charge and offer extended warranty benefits. "Lao Tang Ge Tango", the head of Ideal Auto's product line, acknowledged that this incident highlighted the company's shortcomings in anticipating and handling unprecedented, low-probability risk scenarios. Ideal Auto will enhance training for frontline teams, refine cloud-based early warning and response strategies, and firmly ensure the safety of users' vehicles.
