On September 15th, news emerged that the Guangzhou Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau had unveiled its latest plan. According to the plan, various types of Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) charging and battery swap facilities will be eligible for construction subsidies. These subsidies will cover up to 50% of the equipment cost, with the exact amount determined by the rated discharge power of the V2G equipment.
In addition to construction subsidies, the plan also outlines support for the upgrading of the municipal-level charging facility supervision platform. Investments aimed at enhancing the platform's V2G equipment monitoring capabilities will be eligible for subsidies of up to 50% of the upgrade investment amount.
Furthermore, to incentivize the use of V2G technology, the plan introduces discharge subsidies. Various types of V2G charging and battery swap facilities will receive subsidies of up to 5 yuan per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for their discharge activities. However, the total annual subsidy and incentive funds are capped at 20 million yuan to ensure fiscal sustainability.
To boost user participation, the plan encourages automakers and related enterprises involved in the pilot program to provide upfront subsidies to individual V2G users. This proactive approach aims to make V2G technology more accessible and appealing to a wider audience.
