According to overseas media reports, a Mercedes-Benz EQS prototype vehicle, outfitted with a solid-state battery, managed to travel an impressive 1,205 kilometers without needing a recharge. Upon reaching its destination, it still boasted a remaining driving range of 137 kilometers. The solid-state battery cells for this remarkable feat were supplied by Factorial Energy, a U.S.-based company, while the battery pack itself was developed by the Mercedes F1 Technical Center. Notably, the weight and volume of this battery pack are on par with those of conventional lithium-ion battery packs, yet it offers a 25% increase in energy density.
