On August 6, the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) officially announced the initiation of a Section 337 investigation into specific wearable electroencephalogram (EEG) devices, systems, and components, assigned case number 337-TA-1458. This investigation was prompted by Ceribell, Inc. of the United States, which alleges that the aforementioned products infringe upon multiple U.S. patents. Consequently, Ceribell has requested that the ITC issue a limited exclusion order and a cease and desist order. The defendants named in this case include Natus Neurology Incorporated (USA), Excel-Tech Ltd. (Canada), and Natus Medical Incorporated (USA). The ITC will establish a target date for the completion of the investigation within 45 days of its institution, and any resulting remedy orders typically come into effect 60 days after they are issued.
