An update on Huawei's official website concerning its executive team indicates that He Gang has been appointed as a board director while retaining his position as CEO of Terminal BG. Previously recognized mainly in his capacity as CEO of Terminal BG, He Gang's new dual role as a board director has garnered considerable interest. Born in 1973, He Gang earned a master's degree from Xidian University and joined Huawei in 1998. Since then, he has occupied various key roles and has been instrumental in driving the growth of Huawei's wireless communications and terminal sectors. Earlier, Huawei reshuffled its terminal business leadership, with Richard Yu transitioning from CEO to Chairman of Terminal BG, while He Gang stepped in as CEO, overseeing the day-to-day operations and management of Terminal BG. Huawei operates under a rotating chairman system, with the board of directors at the helm, responsible for shaping the company's strategies and making pivotal decisions. Terminal BG, one of Huawei's three primary business units, encompasses consumer electronics including smartphones, tablets, PCs, wearables, and the Smart Selection automotive business. Two years into He Gang's tenure managing the smartphone division, Huawei's smartphone revenue skyrocketed from $3 billion to $14 billion. Following this, Huawei's terminal business has continued to diversify its product offerings, establishing a product ecosystem characterized by the collaborative (synergistic) development of multi-category, full-scenario devices.
