Apple’s inaugural foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, is slated for release on October 23rd, with a starting price tag of 15,999 yuan. At present, numerous widely-used applications, WeChat included, have not yet been fully optimized for this device. This lack of adaptation results in the inner screen failing to fully utilize its display area when unfolded, thereby compromising the user's viewing experience. Tencent has confirmed that it is actively engaged in optimizing WeChat for the iPhone Duo, although a specific timeline for the update has yet to be announced.
Some tech bloggers have highlighted that the ongoing app compatibility issues could potentially diminish the iPhone Duo’s appeal among early adopters. On the plus side, the iPhone Duo boasts commendable crease management, meticulous hinge design, and a superior animation experience during operations such as opening, closing, hovering, and transitioning between screen modes, setting it apart from its competitors. Nevertheless, the device is not without its shortcomings. These include delayed software adaptation, an imaging setup that falls short of the Pro series standards, the absence of a telephoto lens—relying instead on digital zoom—and a weight exceeding half a kilogram, which detracts from its ergonomic feel during everyday use.
