On October 21, Apple Inc., in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Justice and plaintiffs from several states, filed a joint notice with the Federal Court of New Jersey. The notice indicated that the two parties were unable to come to terms regarding the timeline for Apple to furnish internal documents. The Department of Justice demanded that Apple provide updated documents, encompassing all pertinent personnel and other sources, no later than 30 days prior to the close of the fact-finding phase. Presently, the fact-finding deadline has been pushed back to late May 2027. This disagreement arises from an antitrust lawsuit initiated by the U.S. Department of Justice, in collaboration with multiple states, against Apple in March 2024. The lawsuit alleges that Apple has unlawfully monopolized the smartphone market. Nevertheless, Apple maintains that its actions are legal and accuses the government of impeding the progress of the case.
