Recently, numerous early adopters of the red iPhone 18 Pro have taken to social media to voice their complaints about the device's susceptibility to oxidation and color fading shortly after purchase and use. This problem is especially evident in the Burgundy wine red variant, where the color around the camera module has notably lightened. Similar discoloration issues have also been reported with the black version. Users have mentioned that even when using a protective case and avoiding chemical cleaners, the discoloration persists. Previously, the Starry Orange color option of the iPhone 17 Pro series faced similar discoloration problems due to insufficient sealing processes, which permitted sweat and oils to infiltrate the oxide layer and disrupt the dye molecule structure. The iPhone 18 Pro continues to employ the same aluminum alloy and anodizing process without any specific enhancements, indicating that the discoloration issue may still stem from process quality control. Furthermore, some users have encountered additional problems with the iPhone 18 Pro series, such as the device automatically restarting following facial recognition glitches and the emergence of 'green shadows' in photographs.
