Counterpoint Research's annual global smartphone consumer survey reveals that among consumers planning to purchase a smartphone within the next six months, 63% have noticed the price increase of smartphones. Rising storage costs are driving up phone prices, with OEMs having limited capacity to absorb these costs. It is expected that by the end of 2026, the average price of smartphones sold globally will increase by 20%, with newly released models seeing price hikes of up to 30%. As a result, over 70% of potential phone buyers may delay their upgrades or choose alternative brands.
