In July 2025, Microsoft tested a PC-to-PC migration feature in the Windows 11 preview, based on the Windows Backup app. However, it only supported migrating personal files, settings, and some personalization options, while failing to transfer applications, OneDrive files, passwords, and login credentials. A year later, Microsoft confirmed the feature's discontinuation, recommending users switch to Windows backup and restore functions instead.
