On August 27, Counterpoint Research released its global smartphone sales tracking report, showing that in the second quarter of 2026, Apple's iPhone 17 became the best-selling smartphone worldwide, accounting for 6% of global smartphone sales. The iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro ranked second and third, respectively. Apple and Samsung each had five models in the top ten best-selling smartphones globally, contributing a combined 26% to global smartphone sales, a 2% year-on-year increase.
