The most recent updates suggest that Sony is set to re-release its iconic over-ear noise-cancelling headphones, the WH-1000XM4C. The original WH-1000XM4 model, which debuted in 2020, has since been discontinued. Recently, design renders for the WH-1000XM4C have surfaced, revealing three color choices: platinum silver, black, and lavender purple. As an enhanced version of the WH-1000XM4, the WH-1000XM4C maintains the 40mm driver unit, noise-cancelling processor, and foldable design, with only minor tweaks to the battery life specifications and color palette. The Bluetooth protocol has been upgraded to version 6.0, though the NFC feature has been omitted. When noise cancellation is activated, the headphones provide up to 27 hours of battery life, and extend to 34 hours when noise cancellation is deactivated. The headphones are anticipated to officially hit the market on September 7, with a price tag of £220 in the UK and €250 in Europe, and an estimated price of around $250 in the US.
