On August 14, according to Counterpoint Research's Weekly Sales Tracking Report on China's Smartphone Market, cumulative smartphone sales in the Chinese market experienced an 8.6% year-on-year decrease during the first 30 weeks of 2026 (up until July 26). Following the 618 shopping extravaganza, sales figures plummeted by double digits. This downturn can be attributed to the sluggish seasonal demand and the escalating storage costs. Counterpoint Research anticipates that the upward trend in storage and SoC costs in the latter half of the year will incentivize manufacturers to persist in hiking up prices.
