Google has officially unveiled its Pixel 11 series of smartphones, now open for pre-order. The buzz surrounding the manufacturing process of the new-generation Tensor G6 chip has finally been put to rest. Contrary to earlier misreports, Peng Yujun, Google's Vice President of Hardware, clarified that the entire Pixel 11 range is powered by the Tensor G6 chip, which is built on TSMC's cutting-edge 3nm process technology, rather than the rumored 2nm process. This chip features a 7-core CPU architecture in a 1+4+2 layout, incorporates dual TPUs to bolster AI computing prowess, and comes equipped with the Titan M3 security coprocessor for enhanced security.
The Pixel 11 series comprises four models, all starting with a generous 256GB of storage. Pricing kicks off at $899, marking a $100 increase from the previous generation. Owing to the skyrocketing costs of memory chips, Google has adjusted the base memory of the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL from 16GB to 12GB. Nevertheless, Google assures that through meticulous software and hardware optimization, the new models deliver substantial improvements in AI performance and responsiveness compared to their forerunners.
