On July 9, IDC data showed that global PC shipments in the second quarter of 2026 declined by 4.9% year-on-year to 68.2 million units, marking the first drop after nine consecutive quarters of growth. The ongoing shortage of memory chips was the primary cause, prompting manufacturers to stockpile inventory in advance. In the Chinese market, PC shipments for the quarter reached 9.92 million units, a 1.6% year-on-year decline. Despite the drop, performance outperformed the global market, driven by strong demand from commercial, government, and large enterprise sectors, even amid rising memory chip prices.
