Data from IDC reveals that in the second quarter of 2026, global PC shipments fell by 4.9% year-on-year, totaling 68.2 million units. This marks the first decline following nine successive quarters of growth. The persistent shortage of memory chips emerged as the main culprit, leading vendors to proactively build up their inventory levels. During this same timeframe, China's PC market shipments stood at 9.92 million units, experiencing a relatively modest 1.6% year-on-year decrease, thus outperforming the global market trend. Despite the escalating prices of memory components, robust demand from large commercial and government entities served as a pillar of support for the market.
