Supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has recently made a forecast: the RAM in Apple's entry-level offerings, namely the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e, is set to receive an upgrade. It will jump from the 8GB found in the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17e to 9GB. This enhancement is aimed at ensuring a smoother operation of the new generation of Apple Intelligence features. However, despite this RAM upgrade to 9GB, these two models will still fall short when it comes to supporting two of the latest Siri and voice-related intelligent features in iOS 27 upon their initial release. These two features — the highly customizable expressive Siri voices and the upgraded precision offline system dictation — demand that devices continuously host large-capacity AI parameter files. Unfortunately, the 9GB of RAM is insufficient to stably support the local model operation of these files.
