On July 2, Nikkei reported that Apple is gearing up to launch no fewer than five new iPhone models, spanning from the latter half of this year to the first half of 2027. This strategic move includes ramping up production of foldable smartphones, a bid to tackle the industry-wide scarcity of crucial components and to solidify its market position. Sources privy to the details revealed that Apple has urged its suppliers to gear up for manufacturing roughly 10 million foldable iPhones, surpassing the earlier projection of 7 to 8 million units. Furthermore, Apple has secured approximately 80 million smartphone components, paving the way for the debut of these new models in the latter half of 2026. Among these anticipated releases are the iPhone Pro, iPhone Pro Max, and Apple's inaugural foldable iPhone. Insiders also highlighted Apple's significant leverage in negotiating for memory and essential components, with the total iPhone production for 2026 projected to soar well beyond 220 million units.
