Apple has recently hiked the prices of 14 products, encompassing the Mac, iPad, Vision Pro, and HomePod lines. Notably, the base price of the MacBook Air has jumped by 1,500 yuan, and the iPad Pro's starting price has soared by 1,800 yuan. Apple attributed these price increases mainly to the escalating costs of memory (RAM) and storage (SSD) components. Owing to the expansion of artificial intelligence data centers, there has been a sharp spike in demand for memory and storage, causing these components' prices to skyrocket rapidly and significantly. Apple had been shouldering these cost pressures internally but has now found it necessary to pass them on to consumers through price hikes. Elon Musk concurs with Tim Cook's assessment, likening the memory shortage to a once-in-a-century flood and noting that this represents the most substantial price increase he has witnessed.
