On June 24, Omdia unveiled its most recent forecast report, indicating that global smartphone shipments are anticipated to experience a 12.2% year-on-year decrease, reaching 1.093 billion units in 2026. This decline equates to roughly 152 million fewer units compared to 2025, a situation attributed to escalating component costs and geopolitical uncertainties. Nevertheless, during the same timeframe, the total market value is forecasted to witness a 6.1% year-on-year growth. The average selling price of smartphones across the globe is expected to climb from $467 in 2025 to $565 (equivalent to approximately RMB 3,842), marking a substantial 21% increase (around $98). This will set new all-time highs in terms of both the growth rate and the absolute rise in price.
