CAICT Report: Domestic Mobile Phone Shipments Hit 27.639 Million Units in May, Soaring 16.5% Year-on-Year

On June 24, data released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) revealed that domestic mobile phone shipments soared to 27.639 million units in May 2026, marking a significant 16.5% increase compared to the same period last year. Notably, 5G mobile phone shipments surged to 26.224 million units, up 23.8% year-on-year, capturing a substantial 94.9% of the market share. From January to May 2026, the cumulative domestic mobile phone shipments reached 114 million units, experiencing a slight 3.6% decline year-on-year. However, 5G mobile phone shipments continued to rise, reaching 106 million units, a 4.2% increase year-on-year, and constituting 93.2% of the total shipments during this period.
