According to the ruling documents of India's antitrust agency, Apple has agreed to submit financial statements for its Indian operations, in a case where it had previously been ruled to have abused its market dominance. Apple's move brings this long-delayed case closer to a final penalty ruling. The case began in 2021, with plaintiffs including non-profit organizations, the Match Group, and the Alliance of Digital India Foundation. The core claim is to challenge Apple's proprietary in-app payment system. Apple had previously refused to submit financial data and attempted to overturn India's new antitrust penalties through judicial channels, but was rejected by regulators. Last month, Apple changed its stance and agreed to submit the data.
