Apple has reached a $250 million settlement to resolve a class-action lawsuit stemming from the delayed rollout of AI enhancements for Siri. Earlier, at the 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple announced a significant upgrade for Siri and featured these new capabilities in its advertisements. However, several months after the announcement, Apple postponed the update, prompting legal action from users. In December 2025, Apple agreed to the settlement and made the specific terms public the day before yesterday. According to the settlement terms, each qualifying device owned by a user in the United States is eligible for $25 in compensation. If the number of claims falls short of expectations, the compensation per device could increase to a maximum of $95. Eligible devices encompass all iPhone 16 models, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, purchased in the United States between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. Claimants are required to submit relevant information, and Apple will initiate the application process within 45 days starting from May 5, 2026. Apple underscored that it has already introduced Apple Intelligence features, and the settlement is intended to allow the company to concentrate more on innovation. Furthermore, another class-action lawsuit, spearheaded by South Korea's National Pension Service, is still in progress, with Apple refuting allegations of securities fraud.
