Recently, Himax Technologies made a notable announcement stating that its proprietary front-lit LCoS microdisplay, co-developed with AU Optronics, is poised to make its grand debut at CES 2026, scheduled to take place from January 6th to 9th in Las Vegas. This innovative product holds immense potential for application in AR glasses. By seamlessly integrating Himax Technologies' cutting-edge LCoS microdisplay technology with AU Optronics' advanced waveguide technology, the product boasts five significant advantages, chief among them being its ultra-slim design and exceptional resolution.
Delving into the specifics, the LCoS microdisplay crafted by Himax Technologies features a resolution of 720×720, operates on a mere 200mW of power, and achieves a remarkable brightness level of up to 350,000 nits, coupled with a luminous flux of 1 lumen. When considering the display module sans the collimating lens, it occupies a mere 0.09cc in volume and weighs a featherlight 0.21 grams. However, when equipped with the collimating lens, the volume expands to 0.34cc, and the weight increases to 0.79 grams. Himax Technologies will be showcasing its groundbreaking product at Booth Titian 2201A, located within The Venetian Expo.
