Counterpoint Research, in its latest report, has indicated that the global smartphone market will face a 2.1% decline in shipments next year. This downturn is primarily attributed to the escalating costs and constrained production capacity stemming from a memory chip shortage. This projection starkly contrasts with the estimated 3.3% growth in shipments expected this year. Previously, Counterpoint Research had anticipated a modest 0.45% increase in smartphone shipments for the upcoming year. Moreover, due to a comprehensive 10% to 25% surge in the costs of electronic components, the average selling price of smartphones worldwide is projected to climb by 6.9% next year.
