As the low-altitude economy takes center stage as a new cornerstone industry for the nation, flying cars are poised to enter a golden age of development. On December 9, 2025, the Joint Laboratory for Flying Cars, a collaborative venture among JAC Motors, the BIT Assembly Research Institute, and IAT Automobile Technology, was officially inaugurated in Hefei. The event drew a host of leaders and distinguished guests who gathered to witness this significant milestone. The low-altitude economy is brimming with potential, yet the industry is confronted with shared challenges that demand urgent, collective solutions. The three partners bring complementary strengths to the table: JAC Motors is renowned for its deep technological know-how, the BIT Assembly Research Institute excels in technology and resource integration, and IAT Automobile Technology boasts a comprehensive closed-loop capability along with the ability to expedite industrialization. The Joint Laboratory will concentrate on nine key areas of flying car development, establish a technology and experimental verification platform, and carry out pioneering demonstration projects.
