Data released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) reveals that in September 2025, the domestic market witnessed mobile phone shipments totaling 27.931 million units, representing a notable 10.1% surge compared to the same period last year. Specifically, 5G mobile phone shipments amounted to 24.106 million units, up by 8.0% year-on-year, and constituted a substantial 86.3% of the total mobile phone shipments during this timeframe. Looking at the cumulative figures from January to September 2025, the domestic market recorded 220 million mobile phone shipments, showing a slight 0.3% decrease year-on-year. In contrast, cumulative 5G mobile phone shipments reached 187 million units, experiencing a marginal 0.1% increase year-on-year and accounting for 85.3% of the total mobile phone shipments over the same period.
