Last month, Apple rolled out the Vision Pro headset, powered by the M5 chip. However, the market's reaction was rather tepid, mainly because of its hefty price tag of 29,999 yuan and the limited range of novel experiences it offered. Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst from Tianfeng Securities, disclosed that Apple had initially intended to launch a lightweight and more budget-conscious Vision Air headset in 2027. It was anticipated that the price cut for this model would be over 50%. In the past, Apple had teamed up with Samsung to develop G-VR panels in an effort to cut costs. But recently, this plan has been put on the back burner. Tech media outlets are speculating that this move might be connected to Apple's accelerated efforts in the smart glasses project. There are rumors circulating that Apple will introduce its first pair of smart glasses without a display panel next year. And in 2027, the second-generation product is expected to feature AR display capabilities. A reporter from Bloomberg pointed out that, considering the market performance of the Vision Pro, Apple might revamp its product lineup. This could involve shifting resources away from the Vision Air project and towards the smart glasses initiative.
