Recently, a netizen recounted their ordeal of spending 6,000 yuan on an iPhone 17, only to have the delivery rider make off with the device and subsequently block them on WeChat. The latest development reveals that the merchant has reached out to the netizen, informing them that Meituan has consented to compensate the merchant, who, in turn, will reimburse the netizen upon receiving the funds. Initially, the rider falsely reported the package as lost and marked the order as delivered before going offline. Despite multiple attempts by the netizen to contact both the merchant and the Meituan platform, no effective resolution was forthcoming. The police, too, categorized the incident as a civil dispute. This incident has reignited discussions surrounding the delineation of responsibilities for delivery platforms, the management of rider credibility, and the safeguarding of consumer rights.
