Citing information from Nikkei Asia along with several other sources, it has been reported that Apple is set to dramatically slash the production of the iPhone Air in October 2025. The anticipated reduction is around 1 million units, which effectively brings production to a near standstill. Meanwhile, Apple is redirecting its production efforts towards the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models. This strategic shift comes as a result of the iPhone Air failing to meet market expectations. On the contrary, the iPhone 17 series has witnessed robust overall sales. Shipment projections for this series are now being revised upwards, from an initial estimate of 88 million units to a new forecast of 94 million units. The iPhone Air, which emphasizes a slim and lightweight build, has encountered a lackluster market response. This can be attributed to several factors, including subpar battery life, an inadequate imaging system, and the complexity associated with using eSIM technology. In stark contrast, both the standard version and the Pro series of the iPhone 17 have experienced substantial sales growth.
