On October 13, 2025, China Telecom obtained the green light from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for the commercial trial run of eSIM mobile phone services. With this approval in hand, the company officially launched the service across 31 provinces and municipalities nationwide. For users, activating the service is a breeze. They can either head to China Telecom business halls to get the service up and running or opt for the convenience of online reservations via the China Telecom APP. After making the reservation, they can then visit an offline business hall to complete the process. It's worth noting that prior to this, China Telecom's eSIM services had already extended support to a diverse range of terminals, including smartwatches and in-car devices. The latest move of introducing eSIM services for mobile phones is set to propel the evolution of mobile communication services towards a "lightweight, multimodal" eSIM paradigm. This innovative approach will provide users with a seamless and convenient experience, characterized by "activation without the need for physical SIM cards, effortless cross-device collaboration, and uninterrupted global roaming."
