On October 13, Ming-Chi Kuo shared in a report that the cost of mass-producing hinges for Apple's foldable iPhone on a large scale is projected to fall within the range of $70 to $80. This figure is notably lower than the previously widely speculated range of $100 to $120. This cost advantage grants Apple more leeway in setting prices, all while safeguarding the profitability of its pioneering new product experimental endeavor. Presently, Foxconn and Nien Hsing have formed a joint venture that is tasked with manufacturing the bulk of the hinge units. Together, these two companies command roughly a 65% share of the market, with Amphenol supplying the remaining 35%. Additionally, Ming-Chi Kuo forecasts that Luxshare Precision may emerge as a new hinge supplier as soon as 2027.
