Microsoft has officially declared that, effective October 14, it will discontinue security updates and technical support for the Windows 10 operating system. Consequently, devices still running on this system will be exposed to elevated cybersecurity threats. While these devices may remain operational, they will cease to receive regular security updates, potentially leading to restricted functionalities in certain applications. Microsoft strongly advises users to transition to the Windows 11 system. Nevertheless, a significant number of older computers fall short of the hardware prerequisites for the upgrade. For such users, options include purchasing new devices, enrolling in the paid 'Extended Security Updates' program, or utilizing points for security protection. Since its launch in 2015, Windows 10 has held a prominent position as a mainstream operating system. By July 2025, Windows 11's market penetration had soared to 51.77%, marking its first-ever lead over Windows 10. Following its 2021 debut, Windows 11 has witnessed a steady rise in installations, reflecting its growing acceptance among users.
