On October 7, 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected Google's request to be exempted from adhering to an order that had been issued a year prior. This order required Google to undertake a substantial revamp of its Android app store, with the aim of promoting competition within a system that a jury had deemed to be an illegal monopoly. Earlier, U.S. District Judge James Donato had ruled that Google must grant competitors access to its full range of Android applications. Google argued that such an order would introduce security vulnerabilities. Nevertheless, the tech giant stated that it would comply with the order while continuing to pursue its case in the Supreme Court.
