The rivalry between Xiaomi and Gree air conditioners continues to intensify. Gree's Marketing Director, Zhu Lei, has persistently called into question Xiaomi's product quality and sales figures, highlighting that Xiaomi's foray into the central air conditioning market is confined to entry-level offerings, which pale in comparison to Gree's premium models. In response, Xiaomi has refrained from direct rebuttal, but Xiaomi executive Lu Weibing has instead shared the company's second-quarter financial report data, revealing a substantial surge in smart home appliance revenue. He reaffirmed Xiaomi's ambition to rank among the top home appliance brands by 2030 and position its air conditioning business as one of the top two in the Chinese market. To attain this objective, Lu Weibing emphasized the importance of adhering to strategies encompassing core technology R&D, product innovation, smart home appliance integration, service enhancements, and fostering overall industry advancement. Earlier, Fang Hongbo, Chairman of Midea Group, acknowledged Xiaomi's entry into the market but expressed confidence, believing that Xiaomi's participation would disrupt the industry's rigidity and propel collective progress.
