Meituan recently convened a symposium in Shanghai, focused on the high-quality development of the takeout industry. During the gathering, numerous national chain brands, local restaurants, and independent merchants shared their experiences. They reported that being compelled to engage in price wars has led to a decline of 7 to 10 yuan in the average price per takeout order, resulting in a 15% reduction in revenue. One chain rice noodle brand specifically noted that subsidies have drastically reduced the average order price from 25 yuan to just over 10 yuan. Without these subsidies, order volumes plummet, forcing them to reluctantly participate in the competitive landscape. Merchants express concern that once subsidies cease, customer spending will diminish, adversely impacting long-term growth and sustainability.
