According to CIMC Group, the world’s first semi-submersible platform designed for hydrogen production via offshore wind power, dubbed Shenhai Hydrogen Energy No.1, was recently launched in Jiangmen, Guangdong Province. This platform pioneers the integrated generation of hydrogen and methanol from offshore wind energy, forging a new pathway for the exploitation and utilization of marine-based clean energy resources. The successful launch signifies that China has transitioned its technology for hydrogen and methanol production from offshore wind sources from laboratory-scale validation to a new phase of standardization and industrialization. This milestone provides robust support for the holistic development of new energy resources in China’s deep and distant seas, as well as for the advancement of the marine green energy industry chain.
