On October 15 local time, SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California to carry out a classified mission for the U.S. Space Force. The payload and specific objectives were not disclosed. Since its maiden flight in 2010, the Falcon 9 has been launched nearly 700 times, making it the first rocket in human history to achieve landing and reuse of its orbital-class first-stage booster. SpaceX plans to gradually retire this flagship rocket after the Starship begins regular operations.
