Microsoft has officially acknowledged the presence of a bug in Windows 11 that leads to input lag for certain gaming mice. Importantly, this problem is not related to the mouse hardware itself or its drivers. The company has released a dedicated fix patch, identified as KB5127648, as part of the October 2026 patch update. Notably, this patch was not included in the optional preview update that was rolled out on September 22. Microsoft has refrained from disclosing the specific root cause of the issue, the games that are affected, or the exact number of users who have been impacted. Previously, a significant number of users had reported experiencing this issue across various platforms, with reports dating back to as early as 2025. Microsoft has not verified whether all the reported problems stem from the same underlying cause, as mouse lag can arise from multiple factors. Users can resolve the issue by performing a system update. However, if the problem persists even after updating, it may be attributed to outdated drivers, incorrect synchronization settings, wireless interference, an excessively high polling rate, or issues related to docking stations, among other potential factors.
