Austin-based Icon is one of the leaders in the field of 3D-printed real estate. On October 13, the company announced the completion of a $200 million Series D funding round, co-led by Baillie Gifford and funds under BlackRock. This brings Icon's total funding to date to $700 million, with a company valuation of $1.4 billion. The funding round comes on the heels of the commercialization of Icon's latest technology, the Titan multi-story robotic 3D construction system, which officially entered the market in March this year. Previously, Icon's technology was limited to single-story construction. According to Icon, the Titan system can reduce the average construction time for homes by six weeks, decrease the number of workers required, and lower overall costs by 40%.
