Sources familiar with the matter revealed on Saturday that the United States plans to provide a loan of approximately $4.2 billion to Vistra to increase its nuclear power generation capacity. U.S. Energy Secretary Wright will announce this at Vistra's nuclear power plant by Lake Erie in Ohio on Monday. The loan will be used for "power uprates" at at least three of Vistra's nuclear power plants, without requiring new permits from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
