On August 19, the 2026 World Robot Conference opened in Beijing. Beijing Mayor Yin Yong pointed out at the opening ceremony that Beijing is focusing on cultivating robots as a high-end and sophisticated industry, aiming to build a global hub for robot innovation. To this end, Beijing has strengthened original innovation by establishing the Embodied Intelligent Robot Innovation Center and five new R&D institutions, pooling innovative forces to achieve multiple landmark technological breakthroughs in areas such as robot bodies, open-source brains, and dexterous hands. Meanwhile, the city has solidified its manufacturing foundation by comprehensively deploying 14 key components for humanoid robots and establishing a production line capable of contract manufacturing 20,000 complete robot units. In the first half of this year, the production of industrial robots and service robots increased by 76% and 2.3 times respectively.
