Scientists from the Department of Chemistry at Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea have developed a novel catalyst that can convert carbon dioxide into ethanol with high selectivity. The related findings were published in the journal Applied Catalysis B: Environmental and Energy. This catalyst significantly enhances the efficiency of ethanol production through the synergistic effect of copper and zinc atoms on a carbon support, achieving a high ethanol Faradaic efficiency of 69%, with outstanding selectivity and stable operation.
