The local health department has launched an investigation into the iPhone component factory operated by India's Tata Group in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, amid claims that the factory has been discharging wastewater, which has subsequently polluted nearby farmland and groundwater. Farmers in the vicinity have reported experiencing skin irritation due to the contaminated farmland. This incident follows a prior warning letter issued to the factory by the State Pollution Control Board, which accused the facility of neglecting to implement effective remedial actions. In response, Tata has asserted that recent water sample tests have shown no traces of pollutants, and that the verification process has been finalized. At present, the State Pollution Control Board, the local government, and Apple Inc. have all refrained from making any public statements regarding the issue.
