China has made a notable breakthrough with its independently developed hydrogen-coal co-combustion technology. For the first time, this innovation has successfully demonstrated a high co-firing ratio of 50% green hydrogen alongside 100% pure hydrogen combustion. The technology incorporates a self-developed low-nitrogen burner specifically designed for hydrogen-coal co-firing and integrates a thorough safety protection system across all operational stages. When green hydrogen is utilized, this approach can reduce coal consumption and carbon emissions by 50%, while effectively managing nitrogen oxide generation. This milestone offers a promising technological route for substantial carbon emission reductions in coal-fired power units, marking a crucial step toward the green and low-carbon transformation of coal power and its seamless integration with new energy sources.
